Lord of the Rings:

Council of Elrond!

Ages: 13-18 year olds

Welcome to the Lord of the Rings: Council of Elrond! Immerse yourself with like-minded hobbits, elves, orcs, trolls, men, women, dwarves, ents, valar and maiar! Discuss plots, the trilogy, The Hobbit, Rings of Power, and which side you're on! The ring's power was never fully explored, so tell us what other secrets you think it holds!

The main purpose of this class is to have fun and connect with others that are as obsessed as you are with Lord of the Rings! While I guide the class with structure, the students engage in the topics presented and analyze the latest theories, movies, plots, and differences between the books and movies. Tell us which clan you identify with and why! Topics rotate weekly and students choose which way they want to go. Some examples are:

  • Was Gollum capable of redemption? 

  • Would you have liked to have seen a different ending? Why?

  • What would have happened if Galadriel had taken the ring when it was offered to her?

  • What would have happened if Galadriel and Sauron were to have formed an alliance in the beginning, Rings of Power?

  • Who is The Stranger in Rings of Power?

  • There are 3 Elven rings and it's said that they are hidden away .... Where are they? Who has them?

Everyone gets a chance to talk and share their theories/ideas. This class lasts 30 minutes per week and is expected to fill up fast. Some movies and/or scenes may not be acceptable for certain ages, so as the parent it is up to you to decide if your child should be enrolled in this class. All movies and scenes will come up and potentially discussed in detail. Please only enroll your child if you are comfortable with all topics in this genre. We have rated this class along with the movie rating of PG-13, and so the class is also 13-18 years old.

  • Focus on what you have in common and what you love

  • It's okay to be different and disagree, but please do so respectfully

  • Let's share turns! Give others a chance to talk

  • Above all else, HAVE FUN! This is a space where we celebrate our love for all things Lord of the Rings!
